MS Minutes: 05.30.23

Hello, Middle School Students and Families! I can’t believe it but next week—the week of June 5—is the last week of school! Here are some reminders:

  • Monday, June 5, Tuesday, June 6, and Wednesday, June 7, dismissal is at 2:25 p.m
  • Thursday, June 8, we have Student-Led Conferences.
  • Friday, June 9, is 8th-grade Promotion. The entire Middle School attends, and it is a dress-up day. Students arrive on campus by 9:30 a.m.; dismissal is at noon.

Now, for our second-to-last recap of the year!

Sveta Bryzgalova ’27 and Jackie Horvitz ’27 ran today’s meeting. You can check out the slides from this week’s meeting here.

THE WEEKLY FEATURES

THE BVR STUDENT

Natalie Lippman ’28 and Naima Russell ’28 presented is disciplined with technology.

There are ways I can help myself not be distracted, like putting my phone in my bag, or silence my phone. Having my phone give me notifications can be distracting during class. If it buzzes, then I will check it and it takes me away from class. It’s important to focus on what you are supposed to be doing because if you are in school, you need to focus on your school work instead of apps on your phone.

FEED YOUR BRAIN PICK

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

Recommended by Kaz Jurkiewicz ’28

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS BOOK …
It’s a well-written story that makes you want to keep reading. The character development is good and the plot is engaging.

WHY I THINK YOU WOULD LIKE IT …
I recommend it to people who like fantasy and don’t mind if a book is long or gets dense in places.

Important information from the nurse
Students should make sure to bring their EpiPen, inhalers, and diabetic supplies with them on the field trip if they require any of these medications. These medications must be with the student at all times. Medications are not supplied by the health office for field trips.

Any non-emergency medications (anything other than the medications listed above) need to be checked by the school nurse in advance of the field trip. A field trip medication form must accompany the medication and be brought to the school nurse. Please contact the school nurse at tossowski@bcdschool.org or 617-738-2739 if you have any questions.

Still need to complete a Launch waiver? Please sign and send it to msforms@bcdschool.org.
