US Winter Play "Seriously Funny"
US Winter Play "Seriously Funny"
January 26, 7:00 PM
VPAC-1st Fl-Blackbox Theater (200) [Projector, Speakers]
Seriously Funny
Written by the ensemble.
Devised by the ensemble, Seriously Funny, will explore how laughter can both isolate and enliven us. Students will participate in workshops with guest artists including the theater company Liars & Believers as well as utilize source material, such as “Commedia dell’Arte: An Actors Handbook” by John Rudlin to help create their own Commedia dell’Arte characters. Students will also explore how these topics relate to their current lived experience with social media through monologue and Viewpoints work, which will be buoyed by material from Sidney Homan and Brian Rhinehart’s “Comedy Acting for Theatre.” The goal is to create a menagerie of scenes that cohesively tie together under the umbrella of laughter for an evening of both introspective and hilarious theater.
