US Weekly Wrap-Up: 05.26.23

Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—May 22 through May 26 —in the Upper School.


On Monday, sets from Something Rotten were deconstructed during the student-led musical strike. The strike came after a weekend of three incredible showings of the musical in Bradley Hall. To read more about the musical, click here!


On Wednesday, Advanced Engineering students took a field trip to the construction site of Parcel 12, a development of two new buildings connected by a public plaza over the Massachusetts Turnpike. The class met with officials working on the project and Jack Botein ’23, a senior currently completing his Senior Experience at the site.

Seniors faced off against faculty/staff in the annual Aaron Hoffman softball game. The game is a moment to remember Beaver alum Aaron Hoffman ’93 and celebrate his infectious positive attitude and love of baseball. In a fast-paced game full of laughter, faculty/staff emerged victorious with a score of 10-5. Following the game, both teams enjoyed a delicious lineup of food trucks outside.


Students explored Chinatown on Thursday on an action-packed field trip. Included in their itinerary was a scavenger hunt, lunch at a dim sum restaurant, and a walking tour of the area.

Faculty/staff and students ended the day with a showcase from Acoustic Coffeehouse. Music, poetry, and snacks were all enjoyed in the courtyard as the club shared their work from throughout the term.


On Friday, RD Ambassadors took a trip to the Boston Innovation Trail to celebrate a year of hard work and creativity. The tour included stops at MIT, Google, and various other leaders in tech and medicine. RD Ambassadors discussed what they learned and their highlights from the past year as they enjoyed pizza together after the tour.
