The Beaver curriculum is college preparatory, and all graduates go on to attend four-year colleges. At Beaver, college counseling is all about “the match.” Our highly experienced counselors keep students focused on identifying colleges that will challenge them, feed their intellectual passions, and prepare them to meet their future goals. The success of this approach is reflected in the fact that Beaver students are accepted by, and matriculate to, a broad range of selective colleges and universities across the U.S. and abroad.
College planning begins in ninth grade, as students and parents meet with advisors to chart appropriate programs of study. Practice and preparation for standardized testing begins in tenth grade. One-to-one counseling begins in eleventh-grade where we bring students and families in connection with the world of possibilities through evening seminars, events and college fairs. From the spring of eleventh grade through the twelfth grade year, we closely work with students on practice interviews. standardized testing, essay-writing, supplemental materials development and meetings with admissions officers.
Our dedicated staff of three experienced college counselors works with approximately seventy-five seniors, meeting regularly with families and students to provide guidance, information, support and encouragement. We use the Naviance Family Connection service to help juniors and seniors to builds their list of candidate schools. Naviance features college acceptance statistics on prior Beaver students and is a helpful guide to understanding acceptance probabilities.
