US Weekly Wrap-Up: 04.12.24

Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—April 8 through April 12—in the Upper School.

The Beaver community gathered outside to watch the solar eclipse on Monday. Students in Conceptual Physics spent the day learning about the phenomena and constructing pinhole cameras to safely observe the event. In the afternoon, students met on the Upper Field to enjoy the experience together.

During Club Block on Tuesday, the Music Discovery & Analysis club hosted a music-themed Jeopardy game on the R-Level. Several clubs attended the event and competed against one another to see what club could score the most points.

Beaver’s winter athletes were celebrated at an US Meeting on Wednesday. NEPSAC and EIL awards including “Player of the Year,” “NEPSAC All League,” and “EIL All League” were handed out to players across all sports. To read more, check out Beaver Athletics on Instagram!

On Thursday, the class of 2026 got off campus for a day at the Museum of Science. Students started the experience with an immersive film on New England and ended the day learning about the solar system’s moons in the museum’s planetarium. Throughout the day, students were tasked with filming videos showcasing what they found most interesting at the museum.

GLSEN’s Day of (no) Silence–a protest designed to raise awareness around LGBTQ+ treatment in schools–took place on Friday. Participating students spent the day without speaking, representing the silenced voices of Queer communities around the world. A ceremonial “breaking of the silence” gathering occurred in the afternoon, giving students a chance to share how the experience impacted them. Students in the Art and Society and Environments in Crisis classes departed for France on Friday afternoon. While abroad, students will expand upon their studies through experiences such as a homestay in a small town and a tour of Paris.
