Girls’ & Boys’ Varsity Tennis earn Athletic Accolades

Girls’ Varsity Tennis –
The Girls’ Varsity Tennis finished the season as the 2014 EIL Champions, with a 9-2 record overall and a 7-1 record in the league. Team co-captains Kate Lambroza ’14 and Mandy Gordon ’14 were great leaders, and brought the team together from the beginning. They also joined forces to anchor the team at #2 doubles and finished the season with a 7-1 record (best in the EIL at that position). Gabby Marks ’15 finished her third straight season, undefeated at #1 singles. Hayley Zukerberg ’16 made a  smooth transition to #2 singles and finished the season with only one loss. Similarly, Catherine Wei ’15 played very well in both singles and doubles and had only one loss. Electra Walker ’15 finished the season playing her best tennis at #3 singles and earning three straight victories. Last but certainly not least, Rachel Feldman ’15 competed well in doubles and also finished the season with a winning record. Congrats to all the girls on a GREAT season!!!

Boys’ Varsity Tennis –

The Boys’ Beaver Tennis Team defied all odds this year. In spite of various injuries, sicknesses and rain outs, the Beaver squad closed out the year with the EIL’s top record, 9-1 overall. In addition to helping his team to a 3rd EIL banner in 4 years, Senior co-captain Hunter Flint ended the season undefeated at #1 singles, a rare feat that has not occurred in recent history. This week he was officially named the EIL Player of the Year. Gabe Belkind ’15 and Jesse Roberts ’17 were also named to the All-League Team with their outstanding records at #2 and #3 singles. Lastly, Marc Davis ’15 and Joey Steinberg ’15 were given an Honorable Mention for their efforts at #1 doubles. Brendan Chamoun ’15, Noah Hyatt ’15, Zach Rosenberg ’15, William French ’17, and Evan Labelle ’14 all played pivotal doubles roles in securing our victories.
