Boys’ Varsity Soccer

The Boys’ Varsity Soccer team kicked off the 2013 campaign with two solid league wins this past week. On Monday, the boys hosted Lexington Christian Academy and came away with a comfortable 3-0 victory. Jesse Roberts ’17 earned his first career shutout in goal, while Jamie Kennedy ’15 scored twice. First year player, Adam Kulick ’17, rose above LCA’s tall backs to score the third goal with a resounding header off of a corner kick. On Wednesday, the boys were back in action against the Landmark Vikings. The team cruised to an 8-0 victory behind four goals and three assists from senior captain, Silmar Bueno ’14. Next week, the boys will take on two powerful non-league opponents in Rivers School and Masters School of New York.

Girls’ Varsity Soccer

The Girls’ Varsity Soccer team began the 2013 season with a resounding win at Providence Country Day.  The team came out of the gates hot, scoring 8 goals in the first 25 minutes, carrying the play in the midfield and playing stifling defense.  Julia Schwartz ’15 led all scorers with 3 goals and 2 assists, while freshman Lindsay Bouscaren ’17 poured in 2 goals of her own.  The team also got goals from Nadia Bednarczuk ’15, Sydney Brown ’17 and Laurel Sullivan ’16.  This week the team plays last years top 2 EIL teams; Pingree and LCA.

Varsity Golf

The Varsity Golf Team started their 2013 season with a victory over Landmark winning 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 in match play.  Co-captains Devon Mannion ’14 and Arjun Bakshi ’14 each won their individual matches, as well as fellow classmate Tyler DeLuca ’14.  New to the team this year, Zach Rosenberg ’15 was able to tie his match, which was enough to give the team the victory.  Next week the team will have two tough matches, hosting LCA on Wednesday and travelling down to Portsmouth Abbey next Saturday.

Varsity Volleyball

This week the Beaver volleyball team suffered a tough loss to Gann.  Beaver won the first and third match, and lost the second and fourth.  The deciding match, Beaver lost 15-13.  Charlotte Francis ’15 had 4 kills and 3 aces.  Arielle Silbersweig ’14 had 8 digs.

Varsity Field Hockey

The Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey team kicked off the 2013 season with its first out of league game this past week. On Wednesday, the girls hosted Worcester Academy and came away with a 1-1 draw.  Sammi Sparrow ’15 earned her first varsity goal, with the assists coming from Micaela Pierce ’16 and Flora DiCara ’16. Jessica Ferreira ’14 returned to goal for Beaver and shined with 10 saves. The Field Hockey Team has an action packed week with three big games.  First the girls start on Monday away vs. Montrose, then again on Wednesday for their first league game against the powerhouse Pingree and finally on Friday for another league game vs. Lexington Christian Academy.
