Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—May 2 through May 6 —in the Upper School.
On Monday, the Class of 2022 did their Senior Prank – Bring your dog to school day!
Monday evening was the Families for the Dam Giving Day Celebration – It was a 24-hour giving campaign for the Annual Fund. It was a casual celebratory event hosted by our Annual Fund Committee.
On Tuesday, the Upper School students got to enjoy US Dam Day! They went to Supercharged Entertainment for a day of indoor go karting, Ninja Wipeout Arena, and arcade games.
On Wednesday, Grades 9-11 had Upper School Student Council Election Speeches for next year. The positions consisted of: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Representative to the Board of Trustees, and Director of Communication.
At the same time in 12 Grade Advisory, they were informed about Senior Send-Off as well as preparing for Senior Experience starting May 9.
There were also Admission Group Tours for prospective families for the 2023-2024 school year.
On Thursday, we celebrated the Class of 2022 during their Senior Send-Off that took place during US Meeting. After the meeting, they took a Senior Photo on the Front Steps of campus, and then picked up their lawn signs to wrap things up.
Friday morning there was a Community Discussion re: Supreme Court Landmark Decision. Earlier this week, a leaked draft opinion on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case (published by Politico), showed the Supreme Court being prepared to overturn the landmark decision in Roe v. Wade. In light of that, we wanted to offer spaces for those who might have been interested in processing this further and/or talking about possible impacts of overturning Roe v. Wade (and what could be done in terms of activism).
We also had R+D Center MAYker Day for MS + US. Students could get creative on the D-level during G-block and lunch. There were 15min-or-less activities that included pop-up cards, paper flowers, buttons and more as well as treats and tunes!
