Meet Beaver Student Maddy SaCouto ‘29

What is life like as a Beaver student? We interviewed several students across all grades—from middle school to senior year—to get a peek into the Beaver student experience. Below you’ll hear from Maddy SaCouto—a rising Beaver senior. Maddy shares her thoughts on 6th grade, her favorite theater arts project, and more!

Let’s talk about Middle School. You just finished your 6th grade year! What was it like?
6th grade was great! I made lots of new friends and learned new things in my classes. It was different to be in middle school, but it was a nice experience and I can’t wait to come back next year!

What’s a project or an assignment you worked on that you really liked and why?
A project I really liked was the superhero sequel project in theater arts because you got to write your own script and create your own space, then perform it! My teacher for the assignment was Ms. O’toole, and I enjoyed it a lot because of how much freedom we had to use the space and our materials, and we wrote our own script and did our own blocking.

Tell me about a teacher you really enjoyed and why?
A teacher I really enjoyed was my advisor, Mr. G, who taught the most fun humanities class ever! He would always come up with fun projects and was always optimistic and light hearted.

What are you excited about in the upcoming year?
This year coming up, I’m excited for stage combat in theater arts, and the projects in visual arts.

Time for some rapid-fire questions!

Favorite class: My favorite class is probably humanities or theater arts.
Favorite spot on campus: There are a lot of good spots on campus, so it’s hard to choose, but one of them is the D-level.
Favorite afternoon activity: My favorite afternoon activity is the musical.
Favorite MS event: My favorite middle school event is probably field trips.
Favorite snack: My favorite snack is either Oreos, or Lays chips.
Favorite lunch: I don’t really have a favorite lunch, all of them are pretty good.
Favorite recess activity: My favorite recess activity is hanging out with my friends.
