Three Student-Athletes Earn Athletic Accolades

Lani Mann ’11 (girls’ varsity tennis), Charlie Jackson ’11 (boys’ varsity lacrosse), and Riley Nelson ’14 (girls’ MS lacrosse) are the latest recipients of spring sports Athletic Accolades.

“Junior Lanni Mann has been a bright spot for the girls’ tennis team,” says coach Zach Rocha. “After losing her first match of the season at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1, she earned the team’s lone individual win during an 0-4 start to the season with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 victory over Concord Academy. Having moved up to No. 2 singles four matches ago, Mann continues to produce and the team has followed suit, winning three of its last four to improve to 3-5 on the season. Her biggest moment came against Gann Academy, where she was victorious in the deciding, nail-biting match, 6-4, 4-6, 8-6.”

“Charlie Jackson deserves an Athletic Accolade for his outstanding play and attitude towards the team, not only throughout the season, but more specifically over the last three games,” coach Jeff Anderson said. “As a junior he has demonstrated an undoubted commitment to the team, superior play, and tremendous leadership. He has started at attack in every game this year and has averaged over 40 minutes of playing time. He has a strong determination to better himself as a lacrosse player and as an individual and through this has ‘raised the bar’ for the program. He has an incredibly strong work ethic during practice and has been one of the primary sources of the increased level of play the team has shown throughout the season. In the last three games alone he has scored 12 goals and assisted on six others, which proves how invaluable of a player he is to the varsity lacrosse team.”

“Riley Nelson is one of the most consistent and reliable players we have had all season,” says coach Lindsay Rich. “In our recent tie against Belmont Day School she was a key player, scoring multiple goals and rallying and inspiring the girls on the field to keep fighting for the win.”
