Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—May 20 through May 24—in the Upper School.
There were no classes on Monday due to Parent/Advisor/Advisee conferences.
On Tuesday, seniors returned to campus to face off against faculty/staff in the 25th Annual Aaron Hoffman Softball game. The game–which is held to remember and honor Beaver alum Aaron Hoffman ’93–was a great chance for seniors to connect with one another ahead of Senior Night on June 5 and Commencement on June 7. Faculty/staff won the game with a score of 9-3.
Senior athletes that plan to continue playing in college were recognized at an Athletics Signing event. Seniors were joined by their parents and coaches to celebrate their achievements throughout their time at Beaver. Seniors that were celebrated at the event include…

To prepare for pride month, a special Pride Meet-Up was held in Mx. Duffy’s classroom on Wednesday. Queer students and allies came together to discuss the upcoming pride parade, eat pizza, and connect with one another. 9th-11th grade students attended class meetings on Wednesday to hear from grade representative candidates. Candidates took turns sharing their visions for the upcoming school year and what they hope to do with the position. Following the meetings, students were sent voting forms.
The Acoustic Coffeehouse club held an open mic event on Thursday. Students gathered in the Rogers Room to hear live performances from student instrumentalists, singers, and poets. After seeing their peers take the stage, several students spontaneously signed up to perform at the event.
Students in Honors English engaged in debate-style discussions of Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Students took turns asking questions, responding to points made by others, and citing moments in the novel they felt were important.
Beaver’s Varsity Baseball team competed in the Small Schools Baseball Tournament Championship at the University of Hartford on Friday. The team discovered they were advancing to the championship on Wednesday after a win against Kents Hill. For updates on scores, check out the BVR Athletics Instagram!
