Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—April 25 through April 29 —in the Upper School.
During US Meeting on Monday many awards were announced from athletics to the arts.
The US Winter Athletics Awards included recognition of students and faculty in:
- 13.1 – Half Marathon
- Varsity Fencing
- Boys’ Basketball
- Varsity Swimming & Diving
- Varsity Wrestling
- Girls’ Varsity Basketball
For Visual Arts:
In addition to Felicia Selbst ‘23 and Chris Guerrier ‘24 art awards for Scholastic Art & Writing, Zach Mordan ‘23 art was featured in the Emerging Young Artists 2022 Juried Exhibition.
Upper School students were encouraged to participate in Spirit Week with “Monochrome Monday”
For Tuesday’s Club Spotlight we spoke with the leaders of Real Estate Club where they talked about the interactive aspect of learning about real estate.
Tuesday evening was the BVR Community Event for Parents and Guardians: BVR Chats. This workshop examined the tension that parents, students, and teachers often experience over issues such as coursework, grades, and the culture of competition, and offered tools for creating a healthier learning climate for students.
Upper School students were encouraged to participate in Spirit Week with “Anything but a Backpack”
On Wednesday–to get into the spirit of SpringFest this week–the R+D Center hosted Spirit Week Activities such as bleaching shirts, tie-dyeing shirts, buttons, and posters on the Cohn Terrace.
For Spirit Week, students could participate in “Jersey Day”
On Thursday, the R+D Center Spirit Week Activities continued in preparation for SpringFest.
For Spirit Week, students could participate in wearing “Tie Dye/Neon”
Thursday evening was the reception of the Senior Art Show. The artwork on view in the Victoria Griffin Gallery was made by students taking a class called Senior Studio.

During US Meeting on Friday there was the Pep Rally to get students excited about SpringFest coming up.
To end off Spirit Week, students were encouraged to do a “Blue Out” and wear Beaver gear.
Friday afternoon is US SpringFest! It’s a jam-packed day of activities, events, and fun!
There will be an afternoon/evening of games for everyone, in addition to:
- Boston College Pep Ensemble will kick off the games
- Food trucks
- BVR swag Pop-up Shop
Saturday afternoon is the AISNE High School Students of Color Conference. This virtual conference is a special experience for students in grades 9-PG to connect with peers from schools across New England.
There is also the TEDx Event. Join us at the annual student-run TEDxBeaver event on Saturday, April 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. This year’s theme is “Reinventing the Wheel”, and the event includes a fantastic line-up of student, alum, and faculty speakers.
