We are excited to announce Beaver has partnered with New Roads School to present the Critical Conversations Speaker Series.
In this series, there are three virtual events for faculty, staff, current BVR families, and alumni—November 18, January 20, and March 10—and each of these events will feature experts in their fields who are at the forefront of conversations around equity and justice. These speakers can help our communities examine the impact of systemic inequity and inequality, develop critical awareness, promote wellbeing, and advance equity and justice. Former guests have included Professor Ibram X. Kendi and Isabel Wilkerson.
Following each conversation, we will host collaborative dialogues to discuss the themes of the talks with our community and partners.
We are inviting the Beaver community—families, students, faculty/staff, and alumni—to join us in these conversations as part of our continued willingness to engage in important dialogues.
— Kader Adjout, Director of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation
The first event is November 18 with Loretta Ross (details below); the January and March speakers will be announced at a later date.
In addition, we have also invited the following local public and charter schools to join us as partners in these conversations: Haley Pilot School, Boston; Prospect Hill Academy Charter School, Cambridge; Ellis Mendell School, Boston; Helen Y. Davis Leadership Academy Charter Public School, Boston, James Otis K6, East Boston, Eliot Innovation K8, North End.
We look forward to this opportunity and continue to engage in meaningful conversations with the speakers and our community.
