Sophomore Devon Friedfertig gave up 5 hits and 1 run while striking out 7 as he went the distance on Friday afternoon for the Beaver 9 who took down the Landmark Vikings 12-1 in the league finale at the Diamond on Upper Field. With the win, Beaver improved to 7-6 on the season, 6-4 in the Eastern Independent League. It was the first win of the season for Friedfertig to go along with 3 saves. Beaver broke out for 5 runs in the 2nd and 7 in the 3rd, which would prove plenty for the stingy Friedfertig. The Beaver offense was paced, fittingly, by Seniors Stephen Phillips, Alex Jacobs and Garrett Ekpunobi who combined for 7 runs batted in and 4 runs scored. Sophomores Friedfertig and Jeremy Kaplan would aid their elders on Senior Day by combining to go 2-3 with 3 walks and 4 runs scored. With the win, Beaver became New England Small School Tournament eligible for the first time in Coach Jake Walter’s tenure.
