Throughout its history, Beaver has made the arts an important curricular and extra-curricular component of school life. From classrooms and performance spaces within the Visual and Performing Arts Center to the light-filled McElwain Art Studio, the school boasts state-of-the-art facilities that further this important tradition.
Visual and Performing Arts Center
Built in 2004, the 30,000 sq. ft. Visual and Performing Arts Center was added onto the Hammond Street side of the main building. Each level is dedicated to a different arts discipline: music on the first floor, theater second floor, and visual arts on the third floor.
VPAC Lobby
The VPAC lobby provides a meeting space for students and also functions as a gallery for art projects as well as venue for special events. The VPAC is also home to jazz bands and the chamber ensemble and there is also a choral practice room. You will also find a dance studio in the lower level of VPAC along with art studios, a computer graphics studio is located on the top floor. The Black Box Theater allows for more intimate dramatic productions. There is also the Mnookin Photo Lab is an essential part of BCDS’s photography curriculum.
