Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—October 3 through October 7 —in the Upper School.
On Monday, 10th and 12th graders spent Advisory learning about the leadership opportunities available to them through the R+D team. Applications to become an RD Ambassador remain open all week.
On Tuesday, Intro to Photography students took a trip to Boston College’s McMullen Museum. Students had the opportunity to chat with artist Arnie Jarmak and tour an exhibition showcasing the changing face of Chelsea in the 1970s. Jarmak shared with the class how important it can be to simply document the world around you, which the students will be using as inspiration for their upcoming projects.
On Wednesday, school was closed in observance of Yom Kippur.
At a US Meeting on Thursday, representatives from the non-profit Sunflower of Peace spoke to students about the need for aid in Ukraine. Through powerful testimony and videos, the speakers discussed how donations and community support make a world of difference.
During G-block, students gathered to prepare for Harvestfest on Friday. There were stations set up to create noise-makers, banners, buttons, and countless other crafts.
Beaver’s annual Harvestfest took place on Friday, with several sports games and activities to celebrate. Students kicked off the festivities with a pep rally centered around an epic game of musical chairs and handing out spirit apparel. Later on, students enjoyed music and pizza as they rooted for Beaver athletes. Check out our Instagram Reel to see more of the fun!
