Hello, Middle School Students and Families! Below is this week’s MS Meeting recap.
Ava Clark ’30 and Alice Gametchu-Walker ’30 ran today’s meeting. You can check out the slides from this week’s meeting here.
THE BVR STUDENT
Noa Shatz-Cauley ’29 and Brianna Wand ’29 presented: Collaborates Positively and Productively.
If you are put in a group of people you would not choose, it’s important to try hard and get the work done. Even if it’s not your best friend, you can teach them something and they can teach you something. Some ways to get the work done is to stay focused and divide jobs evenly so everyone does work.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Feed Your Brain Day is next Thursday, October 17. Students will participate in a series of workshops (cooking class, games, sports, and more!). Students will sign up for their workshops on Thursday. This day allows Middle School teachers to prepare for conferences while students have enriching learning experiences led by BVR administrators and staff.
We talked about The BVR Way: I spoke about recess as an important time of the day to move our bodies, connect with others, and take a break from classes. We also have amazing programming that takes place at recess. Recess is not a time to do homework or play video games. Video games are not allowed during school hours, from 8 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
We also reviewed the BVR Way around where to be before and after school.
PROGRAMMING & EVENTS
LUNCH & RECESS PROGRAMMING, CLUBS & AFFINITY GROUP
RISE
Tomorrow’s RISE activity is painting watercolors. Through fun activities, students learn how to deal with stress and worry.
ADVISORY AGENDA
This week’s advisory agenda: Creating visual representations of our identities. This is a fun community-building activity and an opportunity to experience the design process. NG and Ms. St. Louis from the R+D team explained that the design process will start this week when students think about important parts of their identity they want to share with our MS community and learn about the symbolism behind some familiar colors and images. Next week during advisory they will turn their ideas into rough sketches and on Thursday each grade will spend time on the D-Level during Feed Your Brain Day to make a final cardboard tangram piece to create a mural in the hallway entitled Block Party!
WELLNESS
6th grade has wellness this week. 8th grade will have wellness next week on Feed Your Brain Day. Ms Graham sends an email to students to notify them when they have wellness
