Boys’ Varsity Basketball –
The Varsity Boys’ Basketball team went 3-0 this week with league victories over Portsmouth Abbey, LCA, and Concord Academy. The team finishes off the regular season this week with three games. On Wednesday, they travel to Portsmouth Abbey. Friday, they will host Pingree on Senior Night and close the regular season with a non-league game vs AAA school Holderness.
Girls’ Varsity Basketball –
The team completed an intense week of basketball with a 3-0 record. First came EIL rival Dana Hall on Tuesday, 2/17. As a rescheduled game from early February the team came out sharp and focused. On Friday they play vs. Concord at Senior Night. Thank you seniors for your leadership and hard work; Miah Andrews, Jess Derany, Gabby Marks, Lina Sullivan, and our managers, Christina Madden, and Monica Seigel. The team will prevail in an emotional day for all. Finally, with a quick turnaround, the team hosted Pingree and were sharp all game to capture their 3rd victory that week. This week they are on the road on Wednesday vs. Lawrence, and Friday vs. Pingree.
Girls’ Varsity Ice hockey –
The Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey team had back to back games this weekend. The team started the weekend travelling to Winsor for a rematch from the beginning of the season. Claire Mills and Remi Shore scored late in the 3rd period to break Winsor’s shutout attempt in an 8-2 loss. The team then traveled to Milton Academy on Saturday for their 2nd JV game of the season. The team dominated the game from the beginning. Scoring was lead by Molly Honan with her first hat trick of the season. Grace Bucking, Liv Brooks, Corinne Downey, and Julia Gatewood each tallied a goal and Vida Bailey recorded her first career shutout as the team took a 7-0 victory. The team finishes their season on Monday against Newton Country Day at Daly rink.
Varsity Wrestling –
This week the Beaver Varsity Wrestling Team sent its sole qualifier, senior Dan McDonald, to the NEISWA New England Prep School Championship at Tabor Academy in Marion, MA. Going into the tournament knowing that only the top 6 wrestlers qualify for Nationals, McDonald knew he had to leave it all on the mat. Throughout the two days of competition, McDonald wrestled 6 of the best matches of his career. Highlighted by his victories over the 10 seed, the 6 seed, and the 5 seed, Dan finished the tournament by placing 5th and qualifying for The Prep National Championship this Thursday-Saturday at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.
