Boys’ Varsity Basketball –
The Beaver Boys’ Basketball team went 2-0 this week with league victories over Berwick Academy and Pingree. The victory over Pingree was a thriller, as Junior Kyle Padmore, hit a three as time expired in overtime for the 69-66 win. Both teams went into league play undefeated. Junior Keyshaun Jacobs led the team with 24 points. The team has a busy week with three league games in four days.
Girls’ Varsity Basketball –
The Girls’ Basketball team completed a tough 3 game week by going 3-0. On Wednesday, 2/11 they hosted Miss. Hall’s in a repeat of last season’s NEPSAC Class C quarterfinal game. Beaver would prevails 51-21 against a talented Miss Hall’s team. The next day, the team traveled to Portsmouth Abbey and despite being down much of the game, showed toughness and came back to win 46-40. On Saturday, 2/14 they hosted ISL opponent Brooks School in a non-conference game. Beaver won 58-25. This week has another three games on the schedule: Tuesday, 2/17 vs. Dana Hall at 4:45, Friday 2/19 vs. Concord at 4:00, and Saturday 2/21 vs. Pingree at 11:00am. We will recognize the seniors prior to the Friday game vs. Concord.
Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey –
The Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey team traveled north to Brooks School for one of the team’s 2 JV games this season. Brooks took a 2-0 lead to begin the game but that was as far as they would get. Molly Honan and Corinne Downey each scored a pair of goals to lead the team to a 4-2 victory. The girls take on Winsor in the North End on Friday before heading to Milton Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
Varsity Wrestling –
The Beaver Wrestling team hosted CA & Set. Sebastian’s on Wednesday, 2/11 in the Green Gym. Senior Dan McDonald at 138 lbs was the standout for Beaver, winning both of his matches decisively. Saturday morning brought along the EIL League Championship tournament. #1 seed Dan McDonald did not disappoint, rolling through the tournament without being challenged and maintaining his undefeated record at 138 lbs. McDonald will move on to the New England Championships this Friday and Saturday at Tabor Academy. Sophomore captain Ben Snyder ’17 wrestled very well all day and came home with hardware after a very hard-fought victory to earn him 3rd place honors.
