Girls’ Varsity Basketball
Beaver Girls’ Varsity Basketball played one non-conference game vs. Middlesex this past week due to the snow cancellation. On Saturday, they hosted ISL Middlesex and won 45-21. It was a strong team effort limiting a talented Middlesex team to 21 points. Three players scored in double figures: Ciara Dillon ’16, Miah Andrews ’15 and Stephanie Soto-Rivera ’14. This week they travel to Pingree and host non-league opponent Lincoln School on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Boys’ Varsity Basketball
The Boys’ Basketball team defeated Nobles on Saturday 61-40. Senior Jeff Spellman led the team with 18 points and 7 rebounds. The team is now 11-1.
Girls’ Ice Hockey
The Girl’s Varsity Ice Hockey team headed down to Portsmouth Abbey this past weekend. It was a tough loss for the team, but the team is showing significant improvement as the season goes on. The team’s lone goal came in the 3rd period, as Molly Honan ’17 passed the puck from the corner to Kat Green ’17 who got off a quick shot for her 2nd goal of the season. Remi Shore ’16 stepped up in goal and made some big saves throughout the game. This week the team travels back to Portsmouth Abbey for a rematch of this past weekend’s game followed by a home game on Saturday at Dexter School against non league opponent St. Joseph’s Prep.
Wrestling
Beaver wrestling had a busy week with a dual against Middlesex on Friday and their first tournament of the season in Sandwich, MA on Saturday. Josh Berland ’14 led the way for Beaver at the Cape Cod Invitational, finishing 2-1 on the day and placing second overall. Josh’s only loss came at the hands of Tom Grifa of Silver Lake, last year’s 4th place finisher at public school New Englands. The remaining 3 Beaver wrestlers present all suffered tough bracket draws, wrestling an amalgamation of 1st and 2nd seeds in the first round of wrestling. This coming week, Beaver will take on LCA and Portsmouth Abbey in the Green Gym at 4:00 PM on Wednesday and venture up to Bath, ME for the Northern New England Championships on Saturday.
Men’s Fencing
The Men’s Varsity Fencing team competed against four teams this week: BB&N (defeat 10-17), Bishop Feehan (Victory 14-13), North Hampton (Victory 14-13), and St Johns Prep (Defeat 10-17). The men’s foil team made some key corrections this weekend and had a very strong showing. Max Alva went 2-1 against NHS helping the team solidify the victory 5-4!
This week is a busy one as the team will compete against BUA, ISB, CCHS, BB&N, and Bishop Feehan.
Women’s Fencing
The Women’s Varsity Fencing team had a strong showing this weekend against Dana Hall, BB&N, Bishop Feehan, and North Hampton. They fought two teammates down, due to injuries, and still almost beat North Hampton (losing 11-16). The women’s foil team was in top form with both Alexandra Bernard ’14 and team Captain Emma Lynch ’14 going undefeated (3-0) against North Hampton!
There is no rest for the team as they compete against BUA, ISB, CCHS, BB&N, and Bishop Feehan throughout the week!
