On Sunday evening, December 5, Beaver alum Will Van Dyke ‘02 brought the sounds of Broadway to Bradley Hall during a release concert for his debut album Chasing the Day.
All the songs on the album are original compositions by Van Dyke. It features the vocals of Broadway talents who have been in productions of Wicked, Mamma Mia, RENT, and many more.
Performing with a small band, including two up-and-coming Broadway singers, Van Dyke shared songs from the album as well as from his original musical Pages. He also debuted a song from a new musical he is writing. The concert concluded with the fun bonus track from Chasing the Day, “Wonderboy,” which Van Dyke calls “epic.”
Van Dyke credits Beaver teachers with giving him the freedom to explore many different types of art, which allowed him to hone his skills in both music and theater.
In addition to writing and performing his own music, Van Dyke can currently be found playing keyboards in the musical The Addams Family on Broadway.
