Here are some highlights from the last two weeks—December 1 through December 12—in the Upper School.

🍫 Celebrating with s’mores: The class of 2026 gathered in the Front Circle for Senior S’mores Night, an annual tradition that brings seniors together to connect during the winer term. After enjoying s’mores and hot chocolate, seniors gathered around the fire to share what they’re thankful for at Beaver.
🏀 Starting the season strong: Boys varsity basketball kicked off the season with three consecutive wins, including a 52-50 win against Concord Academy and a 89-36 score against Bradford Christian Academy. Their third game–a 62-48 win against Roxbury Latin and the first home game of the season–was celebrated by students with mini games hosted by SALT. To preview the winter season, click here!

🕯️ Shabbat Shalom! The Jewish Heritage Affinity Group and Jewish Culture Club hosted a Shabbat dinner for the Beaver community. Students, family members, and faculty and staff gathered in Bradley Hall to share community and hear about the importance of Shabbat.
🏃 Students run the winter play: Students participating in the winter play, 26.2 miles, heard from various guest speakers about their experiences related to the Boston Marathon. Written by the ensemble, the play will tell the story of the Marathon by patching together stories from runners, volunteers, and more.
🏫 Congrats, Brigid! Brigid Fitzgerald ’26 was awarded a National College Match Scholarship, granting her a four-year scholarship to Columbia University. The scholarship was awarded based upon excellence in academics and beyond.

🇺🇳 BVR Model UN wins big: BVR MUN traveled to UC Berkeley for BearMUN, the group’s very first West Coast conference. Winning Best Small Delegation–the highest honor the group can receive–BVR MUN continued a winning streak started earlier this year. 💻 AI in Advisory: As part of Computer Science Education Week, students completed advisory activities developed by the R+D Team related to AI-generated videos and AI companions. The topic was further explored at an Upper School Meeting where students competed to identify if videos were AI or authentic.

📊 Students do business at DECA conference: Students participating in DECA attended a district conference in Boston, competing in categories such as “Franchise Business Plan” and “Business Operations Research”. After months of preparation, several students won medals in their categories and 15 students qualified for the state competition.
🖼️ The fall term, visualized: The Upper School Fall Visual Art Exhibit debuted in the Griffin Gallery. The show features work from various courses such as ceramics, mixed media, and advanced studio practice, showcasing the wide variety of mediums and interests that students explored during the fall term.
