On Display: Upper School Fall Visual Art Exhibit

Posted on December 9, 2025

This year’s Upper School Fall Visual Art Exhibit brings together a wide variety of work from courses such as ceramics, mixed media, and advanced studio practice. The collection spans a wide array of mediums—from acrylic to collage to experimental forms—reflecting the individuality of each student artist.

Despite the exhibit pulling together vastly different pieces across classes, mediums, and processes, several themes naturally emerge when viewing the work.

Many students decided to explore the topic of nostalgia. Michela Fletcher ’27 explored the theme through Remember?, a collection of watercolor works that point to various moments in her early childhood. In Cultural Nostalgia, Ruby Richmond ’27 meditates on her time growing up in Nepal, swirling together cultural motifs and childhood memory. “In the context of this art piece, my time in Nepal most importantly immersed me in an unknown, different culture,” she shares.

Family was also a major theme, with several pieces representing the connection and culture that families share. Lulu Muwina ’27 created a mancala board in her piece Childhood Memories, pointing to how the game has created community amongst her family and friends. In Catch by Cesi Kaplan ’27, summer days spent fishing with her family are depicted through an intricately beaded fish held by a painted hand. “Creating this artwork required patience and perseverance,” Cesi says. “This piece blends the vibrant colors of my summer memories.”

The gallery serves as a look into the work Visual Arts students engage with daily at Beaver and–by extension–the interests, passions, and perspectives that they are empowered to explore.

The Upper School Fall Visual Art Exhibit is on display now in the Victoria Griffin ’18 Gallery.
