BVR Model UN wins Best Small Delegation at Berkeley MUN

Posted on December 9, 2025

BVR Model UN walked away with several awards—including Best Small Delegation—at BearMUN, UC Berkeley’s Model UN conference. Awarded to groups smaller than 12, Best Small Delegation is the highest honor the team can receive.

BearMUN represents a milestone as BVR MUN’s first West Coast conference. It comes after a successful start to the season for BVR MUN, with students winning individual awards at both Catholic Memorial/Ursuline Academy MUN and Boston Latin School MUN, where BVR MUN also won Best Small Delegation.

Even though we do compete, it’s not the competition or awards that make Model UN valuable; it’s the skills you build through the experience.

Joined by BVR MUN advisors Soumaya Ibourk and Danielle Oliver, students spent BearMUN debating world issues and working together in an effort to come up with creative solutions. Five out of eight students who traveled to attend BearMUN were honored with individual awards:

Best Delegate

  • Sammy Wasserman ’26
  • Grace Batycky ’27
  • Ezra Devonshire ’27

Outstanding Delegate

  • Jonah Freifeld ’29

Honorable Delegate

  • Gibran Ashai ’26

The eight students who attended the conference include: Gibran Ashai ’26, Sammy Wasserman ’26, Grace Batycky ’27, Ezra Devonshire ’27, Quinn Burke ’28, Adyana Gresham ’28, Jonah Freifeld ’29, and Daniel Kliuchnyk ’29.

We are so happy and excited! I am so proud of each one of the students that represented Beaver at BearMUN.
