Here are some highlights from the first week of school—September 2 through September 5—in the Upper School.
🤩 The 2025-26 school year begins! Students arrived on campus on Tuesday excited to kick off a brand new year. The hallways were full of joyous reunions, laughter, and plenty of new faces. Students met with their advisors multiple times throughout the day to ensure the transition from summer to school was an easy one.

🗣️ Student Council steps up. Members of the Student Council Executive Board took the lead in ushering in the new year. Not only did they meet students in the front circle on the first day, Student Council President Leili Singer ’26 spoke at the first Upper School meeting of the year and shared her advice on how to have the best year yet.

🏃 Athletes take time to reflect. Beaver Athletics hosted a series of workshops throughout the week designed to help athletes balance life, school, and sports in a healthy way. With sessions led by Sammy Wasserman ’26 and Sara Falkson–Founder of Robyn Athletic–students discussed topics such as confidence, mental health, nutrition, and identity.
📊 Diving into the details. At an Upper School meeting on Wednesday, students heard various announcements. Ms. Cho reminded students about restricted phone use and how unplugging during community meeting times will be required during the 25-26 school year. Mr. Adjout and Mr. James discussed Student Directed Projects, encouraging students to consider what topics they’d like to explore in the upcoming year.

✨ Students embark on First Friday adventures. First Friday–a tradition at Beaver emphasizing community-building amongst each grade level–took students all across campus and the Boston area. 9th graders stayed local, competing within advisories to construct fall-proof egg capsules, play capture the flag, and tie-dye shirts. Students in 10th grades headed downtown to compete in a scavenger hunt of Boston’s most iconic landmarks and motifs. Juniors spent the day at Boda Borg, an interactive experience comprised of escape rooms and immersive challenges. After hearing from the college counseling team (and asking plenty of questions), seniors took a trip to Tree Top Adventures in Canton.
