Hello, Middle School Students and Families! Welcome to the Middle School Meeting recap!
I’ll send you an email each time we have a Middle School meeting to provide an overview of what happened. We hope this gives you an easy conversation starter with your middle schooler, who responds to your question, “How was school today?” with “fine.” It will also give you a window into the opportunities offered to middle school students so you can gently nudge and encourage your child to try new things. Enjoy!

Ms. Smith and I welcomed everyone to the first MS Meeting of the 2025-2026 school year. We spoke about what happens in MS Meeting (announcements, talking about what’s going on in our MS community) and what we expect from students as an audience (to listen and participate appropriately). Ms. O’Toole and Mr. Winglass did our first faculty skit showing how NOT to behave at MS Meeting. It was hysterical!
You can check out the slides from this week’s meeting here. You’ll see some of the slides linked below in a few of the announcements.
THE BVR STUDENT
We also introduced the BVR Student, which we will talk about each week in MS Meeting and advisory. We praised them for a smooth handoff of phones and watches this morning for our no phones/smart watches policy.
Announcements
🎉 All the Middle School faculty introduced themselves, including what they do at Beaver, and their go-to summer snack.
🎵 The music section leaders had a meeting today to get ready for the first day of music class, which is tomorrow!
🏫 On campus before or after school: Students who arrive on campus before 7:55 a.m. (8:55 a.m. on Mondays) can have breakfast in the Dining Hall. Students on campus after 4 p.m. must be in room 105 working on schoolwork.
🍽️ We spoke about lunch. We enjoyed lunch outside today and played grade-level games during recess.
📸 Thursday is Picture Day! Students will be brought down by their teachers to have their pictures taken.
✅ We watched a fun movie clip (47 seconds) about Fire Drills and talked about our procedures.
📢 Ms. Smith and I ran today’s meeting, but usually a student leads. I asked any MS student who was interested in running a meeting to let me know!
And that’s a wrap on first day of school announcements. We’re looking forward to a great school year!
