There were no classes on Monday to allow for a Faculty/Staff Professional Development Day.

Students returned to campus on Tuesday following Winter Break. During Club Block, students reconnected with friends and made plans for 2025. Later in the day, the Multiracial, LGBTQIA+, Children of Single/Divorced Parents, Muslim, and Jewish Affinity Groups met.

At an Upper School Meeting on Wednesday, three students shared their SDPs and encouraged others to consider a Student Directed Project. Sadie Wylie ’26 detailed “Calculating Care,” a math lesson she developed and taught to 7th grade students inspired by her experiences with Type 1 Diabetes. Luc Alonzo ’25 discussed a documentary he produced about the work of an artist. Jasmine Idehen ’26 shared her work designing a solar-powered generation to address the environmental injustice occurring in Nigeria as a result of diesel-fueled generators.

The Black Student Union promoted an upcoming Student of Color Mixer, which will take place on Friday, January 10. Students from neighboring schools are also invited to attend and there will be an optional 90’s theme.

The Film Club reminded students that the deadline to submit a project to the upcoming Beaver Film Festival is Friday, January 10.

In Advisory on Thursday, students shared stories from break and reconnected with their advisors. Students were encouraged to engage in phone-free activities to develop a deeper sense of community.
