ANNOUNCEMENTS

US WINTER ATHLETIC ACTIVITY SELECTIONS DUE OCTOBER 15

October 15 is the final day for Upper School students to select or change their afternoon athletic activity for the winter term. After October 15, winter athletic activity selections will be considered final as we begin preparing rosters, schedules, and programming for the upcoming season.

GROWING GIRLS WRESTLING AT BEAVER THIS WINTER

Beaver’s all gender wrestling team is looking to grow this winter, focusing on getting more female athletes on the mat and strengthening girls’ participation in the program. Helping lead that effort is new Assistant Coach Lizz Pope, who joins the wrestling staff this season. As girls wrestling continues to grow rapidly at the high school and collegiate levels, the team is excited to create more opportunities for students to try the sport and experience everything wrestling has to offer.

UPCOMING EVENTS

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WEEK: OCTOBER 5–9

Beaver Athletics is recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Week, October 5–9, with a series of events focused on awareness, education, and community support.

Throughout the week, SALT is partnering with groups across campus to give the Beaver community different ways to get involved. On Tuesday, the Female Activists and Allies Club and Women in Sports Club created posters to display throughout the athletic facilities.
On Wednesday during Upper School Meeting, SALT welcomed former Beaver parent and breast cancer survivor Liz Page, mother of Chloe Page ’18, to share her story with the Beaver community. Liz spoke about her experience with breast cancer, from diagnosis and treatment to the perspective she has gained along the way. A longtime member of the Beaver community, Liz also owns a Boston-based event planning company and has worked extensively with nonprofit organizations.

The activities continue Thursday on the D-Level with pink bracelet making and card writing for people currently undergoing breast cancer treatment. On Friday, SALT will wrap up the week with a pink spirit table, where fans can grab pink spirit items before heading out to support Beaver teams.

Throughout October, Beaver athletes will also show their support at home contests by wearing pink socks, provided to all Upper and Middle School athletes by the Athletic Department. Fans are encouraged to join in by wearing pink and helping fill the sidelines with support throughout the month!

We’re a month into fall athletics, and our athletes, coaches, and staff have been busy on and off the field. Here’s what we’ve been up to so far this season:

US teams meet with sports nutritionist to talk food, performance

What you eat can affect how you perform. This fall, nutritionist Morgan Trimper met with each Upper School athletics team to talk about fueling for practices and games, building a balanced plate, and making choices that help athletes feel and play their best.

Morgan works with athletes ranging from youth sports to professional hockey and shared sport-specific recommendations with each team, while leaving plenty of room for favorite foods, too.

Morgan will be back in December to work with our winter teams.

SALT expands to Middle School athletes, gets to work building community

The Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) is officially up and running for the year, and for the first time, Middle School students are part of the team!

Bringing together students in grades 7–12, SALT gives students a voice in shaping the athlete experience, building school spirit, and supporting athletics events and initiatives throughout the year. Currently, the group is brainstorming ways to bring more energy and connection to Beaver Athletics, including a seasonal athletics fair, student section leaders, and a possible punch-card program that recognizes students for showing up and supporting their classmates.

We’re excited to see what SALT brings to the Dam this year!

Middle School athletes step into leadership roles

Middle School Captains-In-Training (CITs) kicked off the fall season with Mr. Mandy and Mr. Winglass by thinking about what it means to be a leader on their teams. Together, they identified the values that matter to them, reflected on the first few weeks of the season, and set goals to put their leadership skills into practice throughout the fall.

Harvestfest 2026 recap

Harvestfest 2026 brought the Beaver community together for a great fall evening on campus.

But before the afternoon festivities began, students, faculty, and staff celebrated Beaver Athletics at a community pep rally, which ended with Navy securing the win over Gray in the final moments of the volleyball game.

Later that afternoon, students, families, alumni, faculty, and staff filled the sidelines and gym to cheer on our Middle and Upper School athletes and show their Beaver spirit. MS Volleyball earned a 2–1 win over Shady Hill, Varsity Girls Volleyball topped Berwick 3–1, and Boys Varsity Soccer closed out the night under the lights with a 1–1 draw against Brimmer & May.

Between games, there was plenty happening around campus, including pizza from alumni-owned Sweet Tomatoes Pizza, the BVR pop-up shop, and a Tailgate Zone with games and activities hosted by our Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT). Attendees also got a first look at Beaver Athletics: A Century in Motion, a special exhibit celebrating the past, present, and future of Beaver Athletics.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made Harvestfest such a fun night for our community.

This year’s Harvestfest featured seven games and matches, including Middle School volleyball and soccer games in addition to the Upper School varsity contests.

Girls Varsity Soccer battled Berwick in a close 3–2 loss.

Girls Varsity Volleyball came out on top against Berwick, winning 3–1 in a nail-biting contest.

Varsity Field Hockey fell 3–1 to Berwick.

Boys Varsity Soccer wrapped up Harvestfest with a 1–1 draw against Brimmer & May under the lights.
