Here are some highlights from the first two weeks of the spring term—March 24 through April 4—in the Upper School.
The Beaver community gathers to celebrate Ramadan. Muslim Affinity Group leaders organized the third annual Iftar Night at Beaver to honor the month of Ramadan. Affinity Group members (pictured above) were joined by parents and caregivers, faculty and staff, and fellow students during the event. In addition to learning more about the meaning behind Ramadan, the Iftar Night also featured live music, and a delicious buffet of food.

Admitted students get a glimpse into life at Beaver. With the enrollment deadline approaching, two Revisit Days were hosted on campus for newly admitted students and their families. Countless Upper School students stepped up to contribute as guides, panelists, performers, and more. Their involvement allowed admitted students to get a closer look at what Beaver has to offer. For example, an “Upper School Life” panel was hosted on the R-Level for admitted students to ask questions about the specifics of life at Beaver, which panelists answered in great detail.
Get ready for Prom! At an Upper School meeting, prom committee members announced the theme of the upcoming prom: Old Hollywood. Taking place on Saturday, April 26 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., this year’s prom will be held at the Exchange Conference Center in Boston. Students are not expected to dress on theme and are instead encouraged to wear what makes them feel their best.
Choreography Foundations students see themselves on screen. The 2025 You Got In video–a yearly tradition at Beaver celebrating the acceptance of new students–was screened in the Choreography Foundations class. After choreographing a dance for the video and performing it back in February, students were eager to see their work in context. Following the screening, members of Beaver’s marketing department sat down with students to discuss the experience of being in front of the camera.
Diego Mazariego visits Beaver. Latinx-identifying students and faculty were invited to sit down with Diego Mazariego at an event hosted by the Latinx Affinity Group. Mazariego–Vice President of the lobbying company Tonio Burgos and Associates–spoke to the group about his experience as a first-generation immigrant. The conversation covered Mazariego’s work with New Jersey Assemblyman Gabriel Rodriguez, his perspective on leadership and community engagement, and how being Latinx has impacted his career.
Students host exchange visitors from France: Twenty students and two teachers from Les Herbiers, France visited Beaver as part of a long-running exchange with the high school Lycée Jean XXIII. Several Beaver students hosted exchange visitors and brought them to school, showing them around campus and immersing them in life at Beaver. The exchange visitors also got a chance to explore the surrounding area, traveling into Boston and Cambridge.
Spring athletics kick off. The spring athletics season is in full swing with students eagerly diving into practices and games. Several students celebrated the start of their seasons by dressing up, including the varsity softball team (pictured above). To preview the athletics schedule, check out the Beaver Athletics website!
