US Weekly Wrap-Up: 02.02.2024

Posted on February 2, 2024

Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—January 29 through February 2—in the Upper School.

On Monday, students studying Marine Ecology took a trip to the New England Aquarium. The trip was designed to help the class learn more about the conservation efforts surrounding coral reefs, Great White Sharks and endangered North Atlantic Right Whales. Upon returning from the Aquarium, students chose their own topics in global ocean conservation to research further.

French: Art and Society and Intro to Visual Arts spent Monday afternoon at the Museum of Fine Arts. For French students, the experience was designed to deepen their understanding of museum curation. Students will use what they’ve learned to design their own virtual museum exhibits for the class’s final project.

Seniors got off campus for an ice skating trip at Larz Anderson Park on Tuesday. The trip served as a chance for the Class of 2024 to reset and refocus while spending time together.

The Winter Choral Concert took place on Tuesday afternoon. Select Singers and B-Side A Cappella performed various pieces they’ve been rehearsing all term.

At an Upper School Meeting on Wednesday, several announcements were made.

  • Mr. Delfino shared details on the upcoming Wonderland Hackathon, an event that challenges students to spend a weekend manufacturing new creations using a variety of mystery items. You can register and learn more here.
  • A busy afternoon of Athletics is scheduled for Friday. Eight different teams will face off away and at home. For more information, check out the BVR Athletics website!
  • Students were encouraged to submit short films to the upcoming Beaver Film Festival! The submission form can be found here and the theme for this year’s festival is nostalgia.

There were no Upper School classes on Thursday due to winter parent/teacher conferences.
