US Weekly Wrap-Up: 09.29.23

Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—September 25 through September 29 —in the Upper School.


School was closed on Monday in observance of Yom Kippur.


On Tuesday, US students had their first official club block of the school year. Last week, students had the opportunity to tour each club and speak with club representatives at a club fair. To get a glimpse of what clubs will be up to this year, click HERE to hear from some club representatives!


Students studying Neuroscience visited Harvard MEDScience on Wednesday. The class participated in a neuro module that showcased content from the course in a realistic simulated environment.

At an US meeting, students heard updates from the Student Mental Health Initiative and Affinity group leaders. Students were also encourage to wear orange on Friday to honor Orange Shirt Day, an effort to raise awareness of the individual, family, and community intergenerational impacts of Residential Schools.


On Thursday, students in Integrated Math started the day on the Bloomberg Plaza. To chart different progressions of data, students passed around a basketball and repeated phrases. Each rotation was timed and, as more students and phrases were added, the increase in time was analyzed.

Advisory also took place on Thursday, offering a moment for students to reflect on their week and hear about different avenues of support available to them.
