Upper School: Drug molecule research poster sessions

Posted on March 5, 2019

As a part of their study of molecular structures, 10th grade chemistry foundation students in Ms. Reich’s, and Ms. Livingston’s classes, displayed posters over two days for other Beaver students about a drug they chose to research. The drugs ranged from ingredients in over-the-counter face creams, to very addictive pain medicine. On each student’s poster they displayed the drug’s molecular formula, molecular structure,  molecular weight, history, medical use, social implication, and possible side effects.

The projects:

Oliver Trejo studied Sufentanil, an extremely strong pain killer.

Edward Garcia Cortez studied Benzoyl Peroxide, a topical acne treatment.

Eliana Verdi studied Prednisone, an oral pill that helps treat lupus and asthma.
