2012 Commencement

The 78 members of the class of 2012 officially became Beaver alumni on Sunday, June 10 at the eighty-eighth commencement ceremony.

Senior class president Lily Brooks spoke on behalf of the class and shared their journey from “small and tiny” sixth graders to the mature school leaders they have become. She mentioned how they were lucky to have taken classes throughout the years from some amazing teachers and how the class is a diverse group of people with a wide range of interests.

“Sitting in front of you all today, we have student and all-school government leaders, club presidents, team captains and athletes, dedicated actors and actresses, and most importantly they are all students who strive to show the community around them how grateful they are for what has been given to them,” said Lily.

Commencement speaker Cam Neely (hockey Hall of Famer and President of the Boston Bruins) asked the students to remember three things when continuing through college and in life: pursue your dreams, honor your commitments, and give 100% to everything you do. He said he tries to live by these ideas each day, and he asks that his players do the same.

As he does every year, Head of School Peter Hutton said a few words about each of the seniors, citing their individual contributions in academics, athletics, arts, service and school life as they received their diplomas. They will head off to 49 different colleges and universities this fall.
