Continuing its mission to expand the nature of school by offering students myriad opportunities to learn in an experiential environment, Beaver Country Day School launched its Impact Fellowship Program this fall.
The Impact Fellowship is a competitive, application-based program for students seeking deep, real-world engagement. Impact Fellows will work collaboratively on student-directed projects based on real-world themes in a group of 12 to research deeply into a relevant issue, develop actionable solutions, and transfer their skills and knowledge to new contexts. This immersive experience will enable students to navigate real situations where the answer is not already known, partner with experts, and witness the authentic impact of their work. It focuses on purposeful work, collaborative learning, and real-world applications of ideas and research.
As the coach for the Impact Fellowship, I am really looking forward to working with students and seeing how they rise to the challenge and bring their talents and skills to the real world.

In its inaugural fall term, the Impact Fellowship will focus on the theme My World and Tech. Students will collaborate with experts on tech-related challenges and present their work to companies and organizations.
Students participate in the Fellowship in addition to their regular schedule; it does not replace an academic class. The Impact Fellowship student team meets with their coach for check-ins and updates weekly during office hours and lunch blocks.
The program is open to students in grades 10-12 in the fall term; 9-12 for the winter term; and 9-11 for the spring term. The application for the fall term closes Wednesday, September 9.
