Here are some highlights from the last two weeks—October 20 through October 31—in the Upper School.

🎃 Happy Halloween, Beaver! The Class of 2026 got into the Halloween spirit during the annual Senior Halloween Parade. The costumes–ranging from cowboys to jewel thieves to inflatable Among Us characters–were showcased through skits performed in front of the entire Upper School. Following the parade, seniors got on camera to show off their outfits.

🚗 Trunk or Treat? Student Council kept the Halloween fun going with a trunk or treat event hosted outside the D-Level. Students got creative in preparing for the event, decorating their cars with themes such as “Haunted Barbie” and “Sesame Street.” These themes sparked conversations between attendees, building community across grade levels.
🔍 Miss Holmes is on the case: Students on and off stage have been busy preparing for this year’s fall play, Miss Holmes. The show provides a unique opportunity for students to retell the story of Holmes and Watson by exploring the added obstacles these two iconic characters would face if they were women. Miss Holmes hits the Bradley Hall stage next week with performances from Thursday, November 6 to Saturday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. You can learn more about the shows here!

🪔 Shubh Deepawali! The South Asian affinity group planned and hosted a Diwali celebration in the Rogers Room. The event was a massive success, with delicious food, games, music, and a henna station bringing students together in honor of the Hindu festival of lights.
🎭 A night at the theater, in French: Students in Advanced French: French Literature took a trip to see the French play Adieu Monsieur Haffmann at Calderwood Pavilion Theater. The show– performed in French with English subtitles–gave students an opportunity to engage with the French language in a real-world setting.

🔥 Are teachers chopped or lowkey fire with Gen Z slang? Student Council finished out an Upper School meeting with a game for faculty and staff: guessing the meaning of popular Gen Z slang words. With terms like “67,” “aura,” and “cooked,” teachers battled to guess proper definitions in an effort to score their grades points in the ongoing Beaver Games.
🍁 Finishing out the fall season: Whether it’s finishing out the season as undefeated EIL champions (like varsity golf!) or collaborating with Middle School students on joint practices, the final stretch of the fall athletics season has been an eventful one. Visit the Beaver Athletics website to learn more and catch a game before the season ends!
