Student Athletic Leadership Team celebrates the fall season

Posted on November 10, 2025

As the fall athletics season winds down, the Student Athletic Leadership Team (SALT) is ramping up their efforts to engage the Beaver community, uplift student athletes, and advocate for causes they believe in.

In SALT, we are highlighting athlete voices and thinking of ways to make athletics even more engaging for the Beaver community. Athletics is one of the biggest ways you can represent your school, so it’s important.

With multiple Upper School teams heading into their final games, matches, and tournaments of the season, SALT set out to build excitement and support for the events with a spirit week. The team kicked off the the festivities by bringing the viral bead competition to campus, challenging students to face off in games of rock papers scissors in order to win beads throughout the day. On Wednesday, a senior wall was installed on the R-Level to highlight each of the senior athletes finishing out their final fall seasons at Beaver. Students, faculty, and staff wrote messages of support on the photos throughout the day. On the final day of the spirit week, SALT organized a fan bus to bring students to Varsity Volleyball’s EIL Tournament game at Winsor.

SALT quickly got to work after forming earlier this school year. The group meets regularly to discuss upcoming games, brainstorm initiatives, and collaborate with the department of athletics. “When you go to a Celtics or Bruins game, you feel a sense of community with people and pride for Boston,” says SALT member Andrew Adamic ’27. “That’s the same feeling we want for athletics here.”

SALT’s aim to build community goes beyond increasing turnout for games and school spirit; the group is also dedicated to leveraging athletics as a tool for change. “SALT allows students to advocate and bring awareness to causes they believe in, such as mental health in athletics” mentions Alyssa Hart, Assistant Director of Athletics and SALT Advisor. With networking opportunities and leadership training as a big component of the group, SALT also provides students the resources needed to translate their goals into action.

With SALT, we are helping our student athletes be effective leaders, advocate for causes they believe in, build confidence, and accomplish the goals they set for themselves.
