🎵 This Thursday, Upper School music ensembles are playing a concert for the middle school from 9:30 to 10 a.m. in Bradley Hall.

Ms. Smith shared a clip from Cars to kick off the Learning Speedway. The Learning Speedway is a visual Ms. Smith uses to highlight the importance of partnership throughout the learning experience, as well as a designated time for students to receive feedback from all of their teachers. BVR Student Feedback will be shared the week of November 24. After Thanksgiving break, students will complete the BVR Student Reflection with their advisors using this feedback. The student reflection will be shared with families.

👻 L’mar Hibbert ’30, Student Council President, had a volunteer from the audience pull two winning raffle tickets from the Halloween fair. Marin Frieze ’31 and Taylor Franklin ’31 won a ticket for an extra special snack on Thursday.

🫙 Elizabeth Zimman ’30, Student Council 8th-grade representative, announced this year’s first candy jar. A mason jar full of Sour Patch Kids will be at the front desk. Students have a week to submit a guess of how many Sour Patch Kids are in the jar. Whoever gets closest to the correct number wins the jar of candy!

⭐️ The Asian/Pacific Islander (API) Affinity group meets on Thursday, and the Upper School students who run the group made a brief video encouraging middle school students to attend.

🦫 Ms. Garayúa, Associate Director of the Hiatt Center, announced the opportunity for students to apply to be the social justice retreat ambassadors. Applicants must be returning students who have attended the social justice retreat in the past, have attended Hiatt leadership Institute on Monday mornings, and be passionate about making positive change in the world. An application was sent via email today.

Student Reminders

I talked about ways to respect the external doors at BVR: never propping them open (they are locked for safety) and not banging on a locked door in an attempt to get someone’s attention to open it for you. The banging is loud, and it vibrates through the building, disturbing others. We watched a funny video about it.

We reminded students to let me know if they want to run a MS meeting and to pick up trash on their way out of Gym A.
