ANNOUNCEMENTS

Natalie Moniz ’29 and Mila Valkin ’29 announced a new addition to Middle School Meeting called Beaver Spotlight. Once a month, a student will share something they are passionate about. This can be a favorite activity, volunteer experience, accomplishment (big and small), or a hidden talent.

The next Hiatt Leadership Institute is happening this Monday, March 31 at 8:00 a.m. on the D-Level. Students will learn about developing the ability to overcome challenges, recover from setbacks, gain practical strategies to strengthen their resilience, and bounce back stronger from difficulties. Students can sign up using the form Ms. Garayúa shared today.

We showed the You Got In Video that was sent to all admitted students during break. Brette Buckley ’29, Ave Hurley ’29, and Eka Krishnan ’29, this year’s head admission ambassadors, then spoke about Admission Revisit Days happening next week: Tuesday for admitted 6th graders and Thursday for admitted 7th and 8th graders.

Our current 8th grade families are also invited to attend the parent/caregiver portion of our Revisit Days. For more details and to RSVP, click here.

The 6th grade is taking a field trip to the Franklin Park Zoo on Friday, April 4 as part of their zoo enclosure unit.

Students completed a survey in January to help Beaver better understand each middle school student’s sense of belonging. Now that the survey is complete, Mr. Castillo introduced the next steps today. Some students will be selected for an optional follow-up conversation. Students will have several faculty members they can select from to have an additional conversation with. The goal of these conversations is to hear about student experiences and use those conversations to continually improve the sense of belonging at Beaver.

Diego Mazariego will visit campus on Thursday, March 27, to share his story as a first-generation immigrant and meet with the Latinx affinity group. Diego is currently the Vice President of a North Jersey lobbying company and has a wealth of experience working with various levels of government. His story is one of resilience, leadership, and empowerment.
