Here are some highlights from this past week—September 3 through September 6—in the Upper School.
Tuesday was the first day of the 24-25 school year at Beaver! Students reunited with friends, got to know their teachers, and started adjusting to their new schedules.
The day kicked off with Advisory, where students previewed the week and checked in with their advisors. Following this, an Upper School Meeting was held. Director of the Upper School Lisa Brown shared three pieces of advice for students to keep in mind this school year: be kind, step up, and reach out if you need help.
At an Upper School Meeting on Wednesday, Mr. Adjout reminded students that the deadline to apply for an SDP is Monday, September 16. Following this, Student Council President Priya DuBois ’25 and Vice President Timmy Brown ’25 shared their excitement for the year, hinting that Student Council has a lot in store.
Thursday was Picture Day at Beaver. For any students that missed their chance to get photographed, picture retakes will be held on Monday, September 30.
The first week of the school year wrapped up with a jam-packed First Friday! Each class spent the day at a different location in the Greater Boston Area.
Students in 9th grade stayed on campus for the day, competing in games such as capture the flag and trivia. They finished out the day with a DIY boat race in the pool.
10th grade students spent First Friday downtown. Each advisory group competed in a scavenger hunt tasking students with locating–and photographing–iconic landmarks and items.
Students in 11th grade traveled to Boda Borg, an interactive gaming center. Each game required students to work in teams to complete mental and physical challenges known as “quests.”
Seniors started the day with a class meeting to check in about college counseling before heading out for the day’s activities. The class of 2025 spent the day at Tree Top Adventures, a high ropes and obstacle course with nature trails, zip-lines, and interactive games.
