Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—April 1 through April 5—in the Upper School.
On Monday, US clubs met for the first time this term. A new group, the Neurodiversity Club, debuted. Clubs did icebreaker activities for new members, previewed upcoming events, and got to work planning for the spring term.
Recently accepted students came back to campus on Tuesday with their families for Revisit Day. Upper school students performed in instrumental and choral ensembles, showcased their SDPs, and guided prospective Beaver students around campus. The event gave families a glimpse into what life at Beaver is like ahead of their decision deadline on April 10.
On Wednesday, class meetings were held to assist in course registration. Students came together to hear about registering for the fall term and touch base with their advisors about academic planning.
The Muslim Affinity Group held their second annual Iftar Night on Thursday evening. The event, which featured food, music, and speakers. One speaker, Fatema Z Sumar, spoke to attendees about her experiences as a first generation Muslim American and her role as Executive Director of the Center for International Development at Harvard University. The success of the event is attributed to the hard work of the Muslim Affinity Group and their leaders Sebah Beshir ‘24 and Gibran Ashai ‘26.
On Friday, the Advanced Biology: Molecular Research Techniques class took their first trip to BioBuilder learning lab at Ginkgo Bioworks. Students began to learn the skills and tools of molecular research through an ongoing research project that will last all term.
