Hello, Middle School Students and Families! Below is this week’s MS Meeting recap.

Kieran Morrissey-Dhekne ’30 and Thomas Laukien ’30 ran today’s meeting. You can check out the slides from this week’s meeting here.

THE BVR STUDENT

Camille Torres-Vega ’29 and Caroline Fletcher ’29 presented: Stays on Task and Follows Directions.

It’s very important to stay on task so you can learn new class material. Following directions is important so you can understand the assignment. To stay on task, find a good place to work where you are not as distracted. To follow directions, break them down to one step at a time.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

April is Poetry Month! Ms. Meahl read My Creed of the Out-of-Doors by Rudolf Carl Stroll.

Ms. Garayúa from the Hiatt Center reminded students that applications for the Hiatt Summer Fellowship are due May 17. She highlighted two Model UN programs, one at BU and one through the United Nations Association of Greater Boston, and encouraged students to meet with her during R-TIME to talk about their interests and passions for summer 2024.

Reid Bugbee ’28 and Addie Marsh ’28, Student Council president and vice president, announced that all Middle School students will be taking three to four surveys this week to give their teachers feedback in the following areas:

  • What they’re learning
  • Their teachers’ expectations for them
  • How connected they feel with their teachers

The survey is anonymous, and teachers will receive a summary of the results. Teachers will not receive student’s individual answers.

Rishaan Chowdhury ’29 and Alessandro Traverso ’30 talked about Beaver Bux. They announced a BVR Bux store happening today during 2nd recess.

Ms. O’Dowd announced a Math Hunt happening at Belmont High on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students who participate will be in teams of 2-4 people competing in a scavenger hunt-style math competition. Prizes will be awarded to individuals and teams, and a pizza lunch will be provided. Students who are interested can talk to Ms. Bell or Ms. O’Dowd.
