Upper School Weekly Wrap-Up: 11.11.22

Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—November 7 through November 11 —in the Upper School.


At the Upper School Meeting on Monday, students from performing arts previewed their upcoming shows and events and encouraged others to get involved. BVR X³, a three-day immersive and interdisciplinary experience for Upper School students, was announced and previewed to students. On Tuesday, Beaver students hit the road for a few field trips. Drawing and Painting classes visited the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. While there, they toured the exhibit To Begin Again: Artists and Childhood. Students in the Road Trip English elective took a road trip to Rockport.

Varsity field hockey team members celebrated their final practice by having a onesie night. Congrats on an awesome season!


10th grade students gathered for a Class Meeting On Wednesday. The Hiatt Center presented about the HOBY Youth Leadership Seminar, a state-wide seminar open to 10th grade students. Attendees from last year spoke at the meeting about their experience and encouraged students to apply.

“It’s a really good learning opportunity. It grows your leadership skills and helps you meet so many great people.”

Applications for the HOBY Youth Leadership Seminar are due on Monday, November 28th!


On Thursday, the Upper School fall play, Marian, or The True Tale of Robin Hood, opened at Beaver! The show is a gender-bending, patriarchy-smashing, hilarious new take on a classic tale. To read more about the behind the scenes of the show, click here!

Marian, or The True Tale of Robin Hood has showings November 10, 11, and 12 at 7 p.m. in Black Box Theater. Tickets can be purchased here.

Students in the Religions and Beliefs history course attended an interfaith religion and spirituality panel. The panel featured speakers from a wide range of backgrounds and beliefs. The experience was designed to deepen students’ understanding of the purpose of religion, spirituality, and living in accordance to moral principles. You can read more about the panel here.


On Friday, the afternoon band and choral ensembles performed for the Upper School. The show featured songs such as “Running Up That Hill” and “My Favorite Things”.
