Class: Visual Arts: 3D
Grades: 10th & 11th
Teacher: David Ingenthron
As part of the artistic process of finding inspiration, students in the 3D visual arts course visited the ICA Boston where they explored the Virgil Abloh “Figures of Speech” exhibit. Abloh is a contemporary artist, designer, and entrepreneur, and his work is often collaborative—connecting fashion and culture, and sometimes critiquing society.
Students reflected on the exhibit and the trip once they returned to Beaver. Junior Alexander Gough-Schnapp marveled at the use of color and the sheer number of items in the exhibit.
The exhibit was intriguing to witness. Every piece of artwork that had its own unique color and felt like a different experience … Each room felt like it was about some part of [Virgil Abloh], and I thought that was presented in a really good way.
More about the Visual Arts 3D course:
Identify your own artistic interests, build on past creative experiences, and develop the technical skills you need to make your ideas visible. Instruction will cover a range of materials, tools, and techniques in the intersection of design, craft, and building things that you can use. Regular discussion of The World of Art and Art History will provide context for our work. Critiques, documentation, and presentation will be essential elements of the class, with an emphasis on both process and product.
