New 2017-2018 faculty and staff prepare for life at Beaver

Get to know our newest faculty and staff members – joining Beaver in the 2017-18 school year – below:

Claire Duggan – Upper School French
I’m coming from … Sharon High School.
I’m teaching … Upper School French.
I’m excited to be at Beaver because … everyone I’ve met here (faculty, staff, and students) has been awesome!

 

 

Perry Eaton – Upper School English & History
I’m coming from … Beaver! I was a student teacher here last year. (Ed. Note: Read Perry’s three-part series on life as a BVR student-teacher.)
I’m teaching … 9th grade English and 10th and 12th grade history
I’m excited to be at Beaver because … I’ve gotten to know many of the students and faculty over the past year and I’m looking forward to continuing working with them in the year ahead. I’m also very psyched to be an advisor!

 

Brittany Healey- Assistant Registrar 
I’m coming from … the UG Admission Operations team at Simmons College.
I am … the Assistant Registrar.
I’m excited to be at Beaver because of the amazing community of staff, faculty, and students that have all been so welcoming in my first few weeks. I can’t wait until all of the students are back on campus this fall!

 

 

Kaini Gu – Middle & Upper School Chinese
I’m coming from … Los Angeles
I’m teaching … Middle School and Upper School Chinese
I’m excited to be at Beaver because … it’s a great school that embraces creativity and innovation.

 

 

Neil Hagen – Upper School Counselor
I’m coming from … Lahey Health Behavioral Services where, as a member of Team Fourteen, I provided in-home substance abuse counseling for adolescents.
I am … providing counseling services for the Upper School.
I’m excited to be at Beaver because … I love helping young men and women realize their full potential and live happy, enriched, and fulfilled lives. I can’t wait to get started.

 

Zeynep Isvan – Upper School Math
I’m coming from  Milton Academy.
I’m teaching … Upper School Mathematics (precalculus functions and trigonometry).
I’m excited to be at Beaver because even after only a few days on campus I have a strong feeling of possibility and creativity. My first impression is that this school belongs to the students; I want to share it with them and learn together.

 

 

Cait Levin – Director of Research and Information Services
I’m coming from Millbrook, NY (Millbrook School).
I am  The Director of Research and Information Services. My home will be the R+D Center, but you can probably find me just about anywhere.
I’m excited to be at Beaver because the R+D Center is such a hub for innovation and creation. I can’t wait to be a part of it!

Yamato (Yami) Matsusaka – Upper School Math
I’m coming from … student teaching at Medford High School.
I’m teaching … Geometry and Trigonometry.
I’m excited to be at Beaver because … both students and teachers are encouraged to explore and push boundaries of learning in our classrooms.

 

Iván Nieves – Director of Research + Design Center, Chief Technology Officer
I’m coming from … Concord Academy.
I am … the Director of the Research + Design Center and Chief Technology Officer.
I’m excited to be at Beaver because … I am getting to be a part of an incredible team and serving an innovative and inspiring community.

 

 

Melissa Ragonese – Upper School Math
I’m coming from … a teaching fellowship at Milton Academy.
I’m teaching … Algebra 2 and Honors Geometry.
I’m excited to be at Beaver because … it cares about supporting the best in students for who they are and who they want to become, rather than imposing on them who it thinks they should be.  I can’t wait to be a part of such an authentic, creative, bright, and bustling place!

 

Samantha Reich – Upper School Science
I’m coming from  teaching high school physics in Washington D.C.
I’m teaching … Upper School Chemistry and Physics.
I’m excited to be at Beaver because  members of this community actively promote intentionality and innovation throughout all aspects of the school.

 

Kevin Rohn – Middle School Science
I’m coming from  teaching 7th and 8th grade science at an independent school in East Harlem, NYC for the past five years.
I’m teaching  6th and 8th grade science and coaching MS Boys A Soccer.
I’m excited to be at Beaver because  this school challenges students to push beyond their comfort zones and values making mistakes in order to learn, which is essential for meaningful learning and to the scientific process in particular.

 

Hannah Wetmore – Middle School Spanish
I’m coming from … living in Perú and working for an NGO that supports community and educational outreach.
I’m teaching Middle School Spanish
I’m excited to be at Beaver because … of the strong language program and inspiring colleagues.
