Boys’ Varsity Soccer

The Boys’ Varsity Soccer team won two away games this past week. On Wednesday, the boys’ traveled to Worcester, where they shut out Bancroft by a score of 1-0. Alex Schechter ’14 assisted to Silmar Bueno ’14 in the early minutes for the game winner. Beaver pressed for the remainder of the game, but could not find the net. On Saturday, the team went to Wheeler to take on the undefeated Warriors in an out of league contest. Zack LaCava ’14 dominated in the midfield and played a brilliant thirty yard diagonal ball to a streaking Jamie Kennedy ’15, who finished with a blast into the upper far corner for a 1-0 lead. Beaver would strike twice more in the first half on quality play from the entire group. The boys came away 3-1 winners to run their record to 9-0-0 in the EIL and 11-2-0 overall. This week, they will travel to Portsmouth Abbey on Wednesday and host current second place holder Concord Academy on Friday.

Girls’ Varsity Soccer

Last week, the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team played EIL foe Bancroft.  The team played extremely well, receiving a hat trick from Sydney Brown ’17 and Julia Schwartz ’15.  Molly Hershkowitz ’14 contributed with 2 assists, as the 8-0 win was truly a team effort.  Then, on Friday, the girls traveled to perennial contender, Southfield.  Tough wind and difficult conditions led to a tough 3-1 loss. This week the team travels to Newton Country Day and Concord Academy for two important games.

Varsity Golf

Beaver Varsity Golf lost two close matches last week to LCA on 10/16/13 and to Landmark on 10/18/13.  Against LCA, the team lost 4 – 2.  Zach Rosenberg ’15 and Nick Vaream ’16 both won their individual matches, but it wasn’t enough for the team to win. Against Landmark, the team also lost 4 – 2. This time it was captain Arjun Bakshi ’14) and Zach Rosenberg ’15 who won their respective matches. This week the team hosts undefeated Berwick on Wednesday.

Cross Country

The Beaver Boys’ Cross Country team wrapped up their regular season with  22-36 win over Lexington Christian. Senior George Wright won his 4th race of the season with a time of 17:25. Senior Captain Murray Skolnick finished second with a time of 18:40. Freshmen Ryan Job finished 4th with a time of 19:36 followed by Junior Freddy Wilson. Freshmen duo Will French and Jackson Wu came in at 20:47 and 20:48, and then rounding out the top seven were Senior Liam Brady and Captain Clayton Starr.

 The Beaver Girls’ Cross Country team lost a close battle with Lexington Christian 27-29 and lost 19-42 to the Winsor School. Freshmen Libby Pohl continues her stellar season with a second place finish clocking in at 20:19.  Senior Captain, Alexandra Bernard, turned in a solid performance, and the entire girls team saw vast improvement once again as Catherine Wei, Alexia Duarte, Sophie Mattoon and Jackie Morris all improved their times. Jackie improved by over 3 minutes.

 Both teams will get a week of rest before traveling to Franklin Park in Boston on November 1st to compete in the Eastern Independent League Championships. The Boys’ race will begin at 3:15 p.m. and the Girls’ will follow at 3:45 p.m.
