Beaver’s boys’ varsity basketball capped a 26-2 season with a come-from-behind victory in the NEPSAC Class B Championship game on Sunday, March 4 against Rivers.
Down by as many as 16 in first half, Beaver went on an 8-0 run toward the end of the half that took them to the locker room down 29-21. Coming out of the break, Beaver continued the hot shooting, tying the game with twelve minutes left to play. The rest of the half was evenly matched, but Jacquil Taylor ’14 was able to give Beaver a five point lead on after an offensive rebound with under two minutes to play. Senior Joe Connelly knocked down four free throws in final seconds to ice the game.
Sophomore Jeff Spellman took home tournament MVP honors after his 13-point performance in the championship game. His clutch shooting in the second half helped lead Beaver to the title.
