Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—April 22 through April 26—in the Upper School.

On Monday, students in Art and Society and Environments in Crisis returned from their trip to France. Over the course of their travels, students toured Paris, participated in homestays in a small town, and immersed themselves in the language. A group of female student athletes attended the 2024 Girls in Sports Leadership Summit at Cushing Academy. Attendees heard from inspirational speakers such as Columbia University Women’s Basketball Head Coach Megan Griffith and ESPN Writer Katie Barnes. Several workshops were also offered, expanding on the theme of what it means to be a leader.

9th grade Physics Foundations students put their marshmallow launchers to the test on Tuesday. To dive deeper into the concepts of energy loss and conservation, students constructed marshmallow launchers and analyzed the launch path of their devices. “Launch Day” also involved some friendly competition, with the team launching their marshmallow farthest winning a prize.

Leaders of the Student Mental Health Initiative visited 8th graders during Middle School Wellness. MS students got the chance to ask US students about the US schedule, teachers, athletics, and what being an US student entails at Beaver.

Seniors kicked off the Senior Annual Fund on Wednesday with a gathering in Bradley Hall. Between enjoying donuts and hearing from Senior Annual Fund committee members, seniors had a chance to connect with one another and reflect on their time at Beaver.

Friday was SpringFest at Beaver, bringing the community together to root on spring athletes and celebrate the season. In addition to several food trucks, a pop-up swag shop, and an evening packed with games, the Beaver mascot made an appearance as well!
