Alumni Updates & Class Notes

Posted on July 1, 2023

There’s a lot happening in the Beaver alumni world; below we highlight just a few things to know from this past year.

BVRConnects Alumni Events

In March 2023, we launched BVRConnects Alumni Events—a regional programming series driven to connect, engage, and inspire alumni in select cities. Our first stop was New York City.  In March 2023, Head of School Kim Samson joined the class of 1972 for an evening discussion on their endowed scholarship fund, the Carnell S. Eaton Fund (read more here). The following morning, alumni reconnected over breakfast and heard from Kim Samson along with Beaver’s Director of Performing Arts, Tina Farrell. Not only was it an opportunity to discuss what’s happening at Beaver, but it was also a chance to hear about the incredible work Beaver alumni have been doing.

Keep a look out—Beaver is headed to D.C. next!

BVRconnects: The Network

BVRconnects is a forum for Beaver alumni, students, faculty, and staff to build professional relationships, share career resources, and discuss issues of interest as an engaged community. Think of it like a private social network just for the Beaver alumni community! Click here to create your profile to access this online network and directory.

Save The Dates for the 23-24 Reunion Events

  • Founders Day, 12.05.23: Get ready for Beaver’s annual day of alumni giving + engagement. We hope to see you for an evening cocktail reception on campus and we’ll have virtual options as well. Keep an eye on your inbox for more information coming this fall!
  • Reunion 2024: Committees are forming now! Email engagement@bcdschool.org to get involved.

Class Notes

Did you get together with a group of Beaver friends? Have a baby? Have a new address? If so, we want to hear about it! Submit class notes all year round with a quick email. Here are what some Beaver alumni have been up to…

James Turner ’80: I am coming up on my second year working at Mark43 as a senior iOS engineer. I work on an application that allows first responders to view events, receive assignments, and automatically let dispatchers track their positions. It’s very rewarding to work on a project that can help save lives (both for public safety workers and for the general public.) In 2022, I had my 60th birthday and 30th wedding anniversary, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of buying a house. We’ve finally tamed our 2 1/2 acres of mowable property (the rest is forest), and I’m enjoying quality time on the hammock before things get too hot. For a while, Henry Feldman (’85) and I were both working at IBM (in very different groups). We’re still keeping in touch, as we both love doing DIY projects and 3D printing. My wife is completing her post-doc in clinical psychology and will be putting out her shingle in the fall. My son was recently promoted to Quality Control Associate II – Gene Therapy at Serepta, where he supervises suppliers for a muscular dystrophy medication. Is anyone still in contact with Maria Aveni? I’d like to chat with her sometime.

Allegra Pawlowski ’92: In March 2023, Allegra was named to the Conde Nast Traveler list of Top Travel Specialists for her focus on the Caribbean island of St Barth. Read more about Allegra’s work HERE!
