Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—September 19 through September 23 —in the Upper School.
On Monday and Tuesday, school was closed.
On Wednesday, Upper School students attended a presentation by the Hiatt Center. Students that spent time volunteering over the summer shared what they learned and what their future plans with the Hiatt Center are.
One student, Macy McKinney ’25, spent time with the TUFTS Engineering Program where she helped create a robot with an eye for fashion.

Another student, Caroline Kulka ’25, volunteered with Horizons at Dedham Country Day School.

Wednesday also saw the start of Club Spotlights, a weekly series that gives a look into the clubs Beaver offers. The first Club Spotlight of the year focused on Film Club, which you can check out here: Club Spotlight: Film Club.
On Thursday, 10th and 12th grade class meetings took place. 10th graders took time to make preparations for the upcoming PSAT that will take place in October. The PSAT is a chance for sophomores to familiarize themselves with the test format and to facilitate early-stage college counseling. In 12th grade, students competed in a relay race to score points for their houses.
In Advisory, 9th graders finished their discussions focused on hazing and what students can do to protect themselves and others. 11th graders spent Advisory checking in with their groups and discussing how they are adjusting to this school year.
The SAGE Dining crew was spotlighted on Friday, giving students a chance to see who is behind the food they eat every day. If you’d like to read more about the dining staff, click here: Meet the team feeding Beaver.
