BVR Model UN receives Best Delegation for the second year in a row

Posted on February 8, 2016

We’re excited to announce Beaver has won the highly-coveted Best Delegation Award at the Annual Boston Invitational Model United Nations Conference – for the second year in a row! In addition, nine of the 12 Beaver students who attended also won individual awards.

Braving the snowstorm this past Friday, our students – advised by Sumaya Ibourk –  attend the three-day conference, which features more than 70 schools and 1,500 students. They problem-solved, collaborated, and wrote resolutions and directives on a variety of topics, including:

  • The Situation in Refugee Camps
  • Misappropriation of Humanitarian Aid
  • US-Iran Nuclear Negotiations-US delegation
  • Action Plan for Greece and the European Migrant Crisis
  • Censorship of the Media and Social Media
  • The Evolution of Journalism (Beaver represented Fox News)

In addition, students also participated in historical and crisis committees, from FBI 1970s to the Thailand Coup D’Etat to the Russo-Japanese War.

The 12 student delegates were: Seamus Buckley ’19, Ronan O’Callaghan ’19, Cam Ventura ’19, Aidan Geary ’18, Ben Lehv ’18, Ryan McClennen ’18, Drew Siegal ’18, Zack Taylor ’18, Jerome Edwards ’17, Jessica Ainooson ’16, Evan Feldberg-Bannatyne ’16, and Pablo Fiori ’16.
